Augustinians of the Midwest - Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel - Order of St. Augustine Seal of the Augustinian Order

There are two cities, the city of the godly and the city of the ungodly. These have been with us since the human race began, and they will continue until the end of the world. For the time being, as far as outward appearances go, they are indistinguishable, but their aspirations are very different. On the Day of Judgment, they will be separated bodily for all to see. --St. Augustine, Catechetical Instructions

The Augustinians welcome your prayers and your financial support.

In fact, we can't really exist without both of them ...... None of us can!

Rev. John Gavin, O.S.A. visits with friends in St. Louis, where he ministered 27 years

Rev. John R. Gavin, O.S.A. (seated, center) visits with friends in St. Louis, Missouri. Born in 1922, Father Gavin gave 56 years of service to God and his Church. He was Pastor of Immaculate Conception/St. Henry Parish in St. Louis until ill health forced his retirement in 2005 at age 83. Like members of most religious communities, his pay was low and he had no pension or retirement plan. Now receiving care in the Senior Care wing of Tolentine Monastery, the Augustinian Guild helps to support Father Gavin's needs.

Robert Basler, O.S.A. signs Profession Book after taking first vows in Augustinian Order

Robert C. Basler, O.S.A. signs the Profession Book after taking his first vows as an Augustinian Friar. Prior General Robert F. Prevost, O.S.A. looks on. Brother Basler had completed a year as an Augustinian Novice, where he studied Augustinian spirituality, the Sacred Scriptures, prayer, the Rule of St. Augustine and the Constitutions of the Augustinian Order. As a Novice, he also discerned if God is calling him to commit himself to the Augustinian way of life. Now Brother Basler is continuing his formation as a friar of the Order and preparing for ordination as a Priest. The Augustinian Guild secures and provides support for the seminary training and formation of new Augustinians.

The Good Counsel Legacy is a spiritual association of those living and deceased benefactors who inform the Augustinian Guild that they have arranged a bequest or a planned gift for the Midwest Province, Order of Saint Augustine.

The Good Counsel Legacy also includes those deceased in whose memory gifts totaling $1000 have been made to the Order.
