Felix J. Zaczek, Men of Tolentine Man of the Year 2005, receives plaque from Augustinian Provincial

The Men of Tolentine foster vocations to the Augustinian Order and support programs of initial formation of Augustinian Friars.

Felix J. Zaczek, III was honored October 13, 2005 by the Men of Tolentine as their 2005 Man of the Year.

Zaczek was born in 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. A 1960 graduate of St. Rita High School, Chicago, he attended St. Mary College in Minnesota for two years before graduating from St. Mary of Nazareth School of Radiological Technology and Nuclear Medical Technology in 1964.

He was a Nuclear Medical Technologist at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, and Nuclear Medical Supervising Technologist at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital, Chicago. He then worked as a hospital purchasing agent and a hospital sales account representative.

When he decided to change fields, Zaczek became an operator for Valpak, a direct marketing company. He currently owns Valpak Chicago South.

Zaczek is Past President and Treasurer of the Chicago Lawn Sertoma Club, an affiliate of Sertoma International. The name SerToMa signifies SERvice TO MAnkind. Founded in 1912, Sertoma's primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders. Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs.

He is also a Past President of the St. Rita High School Band Boosters and the Gleneagles Men's Club.

The Men of Tolentine, now called Friends of Tolentine, is a group of lay men and women organized in 1958 by the late Very Rev. John L. Seary, O.S.A., then Provincial of the Augustinians of the Midwest, to foster and support vocations to the Augustinian Order. Since its founding the organization has contributed more than $700,000 to Augustinian formation programs. The largest part of this amount has come from the annual Man/Woman of the Year event, held each October.
