The Augustinians invite and encourage all who identify with Augustinian spirituality and traditions to observe Human Rights Day each December 10.
This world-wide United Nations observance marks the anniversary of the international community's adoption on December 10, 1948 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The themes of Human Rights Day mesh well with the teachings and example of Jesus, the long Christian tradition of compassion, and Catholic pro-life teaching on the dignity of every human person.
We offer this suggested prayer service for Human Rights Day as an aid to churches, religious education programs, adult and youth organizations, religious communities and other groups, in the hope that it will facilitate powerful prayer for the Christian cause of justice.
