Write an Effective Letter to Your Government Officials

Here is one rather easy way for you to be a part of the world-wide Augustinian Campaign Against Hunger:

Take three minutes to write a letter to officials of your national government, asking them to support policies aimed at reducing hunger in the world. A brief letter written in your own words is best.

An effective letter will include these elements:

At the United Nations Millennium Summit in 2000, every country belonging to the U. N., including the United States, committed themselves to help attain the Millennium Development Goals (Opens new window), which include reducing by half the number of persons who suffer hunger. The role of governments is crucial if we are to reach this goal. I urge you to support and finance programs needed to reduce hunger. Hunger is one problem we can actually solve. We have the means to end hunger. Please support legislation to achieve this worthy goal. Sign your name and include your postal address.
