Augustinians of the Midwest Support Augustinian Parish in Baba Dogo

Children at Sacred Heart School, Baba Dogo, proudly display their work

Children at the school sponsored by the Augustinian parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Baba Dogo, Kenya, proudly display their work. Severe overcrowding at the school has made the building of a six-room addition an urgent necessity. Augustinians of the Midwest organized the “Build a Classroom in Baba Dogo” Project as their 2007 Lenten almsgiving activity. The project raised enough funds to underwrite the construction of two new classrooms - double the initial goal. Most of the students come from poor families.

Students at Sacred Heart School, Baba Dogo, Kenya, are full of energy as they take a break from their classes. The school, sponsored by the neighborhood Augustinian parish, provides access to a quality Catholic-based education for children of the poor families who live in Baba Dogo.

Donations were used to help construct a seven-classroom addition to Baba Dogo Sacred School, sponsored by the Augustinian Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus there. The school had been severely overcrowded.

The parish in Baba Dogo also operates the Baba Dogo Community Based Home Care Project, which ministers to the sick of the neighborhood, who otherwise would not receive medical care. The international Augustinian Fund for Africa, which the Augustinian friars, schools and parishes of the Midwest have supported since 2002, has been a principal source of funding for this project.
