Three Augustinians profess first vows

This past Sunday, August 11, Fr. Brian Barker, O.S.A., Brother Bernie Cissell, O.S.A., and Brother Joe Ruiz, O.S.A.  professed their first vows into the Augustinian Order.  Prior General, the Most Reverend Robert Prevost, O.S.A. celebrated the solemn evening prayer, along with many other Augustinians, friends, family, and supporters of the Order.

Brothers Bernie Cissell and Joe Ruiz are assigned to St. Augustine Friary in Chicago while they complete their studies, and Fr. Brian Barker is assigned for service at Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

That evening, those Augustinians celebrating anniversaries of vows were honored for their service.  They included:

  •  75 years: Fr. Dan Hartigan, O.S.A. and Fr. Frank Lawlor, O.S.A.,
  • 70 years: Fr. Jack Gavin, O.S.A.,
  • 60 years: Fr. Don Bates, O.S.A., Fr. E.J. Dodge, O.S.A., and Fr. Karl Gersbach, O.S.A.,
  • 50 years: Fr. Jack R. Flynn, O.S.A., Brother Fred Kaiser, O.S.A., Fr. Jim Thompson, O.S.A., 
  • 40 years: Fr. Bernie Danber, O.S.A., Fr. Bob Dueweke, O.S.A., Fr. Dave Petraitis, O.S.A.,
  • 25 years: Fr. Tom McCarthy, O.S.A. and Very Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D.
