The Augustinians are happy to announce that Father Steve M. Curry, O.S.A., Ed.D., will serve as the Director of Augustinian Mission at St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago. St. Rita of Cascia High School is a Catholic college preparatory school for young men, rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the tradition of St. Augustine, following the Augustinian philosophy of education.
The Director of Augustinian Mission is an administrative position appointed by the Provincial with the consent of his Council. In this position, Fr. Curry will work in cooperation with the Superintendent of Schools and the School's Administration to see that the charism of the Order is present and implemented in all areas of the school community.
"We are delighted that Fr. Steve is willing to come to Chicago to serve at St. Rita in this important role," said the Very Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D., who is also an alumnus of the high school. "I'm sure he will bring great energy and enthusiasm for the Augustinian Values and how we can incorporate them more fully in our lives."
The Director of Augustinian Mission will oversee, supervise, and be available to teach and instruct on Augustinian Values, traditions, and charism to help ensure a strong Augustinian culture. It should be noted that the position is not the single agent or in charge of the mission. All faculty, staff and board members must work with diligence and in cooperation to see that the school embodies the charism of the Order and makes the charism effective in the philosophy, spirit, and curriculum of the school. The director will facilitate ways in which fidelity to the mission can be enhanced and developed among all constituencies of the school community.
Father Curry has taught in Augustinian schools for nearly 20 years including Villanova University (Villanova, PA); St. Augustine Preparatory School (Richland, NJ); Monsignor Bonner High School (Drexel Hill, PA); and Malvern Preparatory School (Malvern, PA). Father Curry recently completed his Doctorate of Education in Leadership from Seton Hall University (South Orange, NJ). His dissertation is titled The Student Augustinian Values Institute: Assessing Its Impact of Enhancing the Understanding and Experience of the Augustinian Core Values of Veritas, United, and Caritas upon Students in Augustinian Secondary Schools. Father Curry is a member of the Villanova (East Coast) Province of Augustinians.
Welcome, Father Curry!
