2016 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Starts Monday

You are invited to join millions of Christians worldwide as we gather in prayer for the visible unity of Christ's church during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Monday, January 18 through Monday, January 25.

This year’s theme, “Called to Proclaim the Mighty Works of the Lord” (cf. 1 Peter 2:9), was developed by Christian Churches in Latvia.

The Week of Prayer is co-sponsored by the Roman Catholic Church’s Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and by the World Council of Churches.

Augustinian communities, parishes, and schools are encouraged to incorporate the theme of Christian Unity into their regularly scheduled prayer times.  Please visit the resources below for assistance in doing so.

Prayer for Christian Unity

God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may you give to all Christians, and especially to those entrusted with leadership in your church, the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
With the eyes of our hearts may we see the hope to which you have called us: one body and one spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and father of all, who is above and through all and in all.
This we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever, Amen
