Dear Friends of the Augustinians,

I am delighted to announce that Fr. Philip Cook, O.S.A. will be the next Headmaster of Cascia Hall.

As many of you already know, Mr. Roger Carter has announced that he will be stepping down as Headmaster at the end ov this school year after eight years of faithful service in this position. I am grateful for his service during these two four-year terms of leadership. Roger was the first lay Headmaster in the school's history, and he did a great job of keeping Cascia moving forward. Please join me in thanking him for his commitment to our Cascia Community over these years. I trust that he will remain close to the Cascia and Augustinian communities given his affinity for the Order, school and students.

Fr. Philip has served at Cascia off and on for the past twenty-five years. He first came to Cascia as Bro. Philip in 1993 and taught Theology and Latin in the middle school. He earned a reputation as a wonderful teacher, being very demanding of his students. After two years at Cascia, he returned to Chicago to complete his studies, and once he was ordained to the priesthood in 1997, he was reassigned to Cascia Hall as Fr. Philip. He currently teaches Theology in the upper school.

Fr. Philip is a 1990 graduate of Villanova University where he earned a BA in Classics. and a 1997 graduate of Catholic Theological Union where he earned a Master's of Divinity Degree. As a life-long learner, he completed a second Master's Degree in Latin and Greek in 2007 from Catholic University of America, and his Ph.D. in Classics in 2016 from the University of Florida, and is now ready to take on the challenge of leadership.

He enjoys a very positive rapport with his students, colleagues, board members and alums from the past twenty-five years. I believe that his education and experience have prepared him to take on this important role of service for the School and for the Augustinian Order.

Please join me in congratulating Fr. Philip and pledging our support to him as he begins his tenure as the 13th Headmaster of Cascia Hall July 1st, 2018. In the meantime, he will begin to shadow Mr. Carter to help ensure a smooth transition.

And one final note: I will be completing my second term as Prior Provincial in June, and therefore will conclude my time on the Cascia Hall Board after 21 years. I will be taking a long-anticipated sabbatical before returning to our educational apostolate. Thank you for your support over these many years. The Cascia Community will always hold a special place in my heart!

May God continue to bless our Catholic Community.

Sincerely in Christ and St. Augustine,

Very Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D.
Prior Provincial of the Augustinians of Chicago, Canada and Chulucanas , Peru
Former Headmaster of Cascia Hall (1997-2010
