On August 27, 2015, the Augustinians celebrated the Feasts of Saint Augustine and Saint Monica at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. The Mass also marked the Augustinian Midwest Province's 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee and the Year of Consecrated Life.

This full video includes consecrated life reflections by: the Very Rev. Joseph L. Farrell, O.S.A.; Brother Jack Hibbard, O.S.A.; Brother Richie Mercado, O.S.A.; and Fr. Tom McCarthy, O.S.A. The following Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Blase Cupich of Chicago. Principal Concelebrants include the Most Rev. R. Daniel Conlon of Joliet; the Very Rev. Joseph L. Farrell, O.S.A., S.T.D.; the Very Rev. Michael F. DiGregorio, O.S.A.; the Very Rev. Kevin C. Mullins, O.S.A.; and the Very Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D. During Mass, we witnessed the solemn profession of vows of Brother Richie Mercado, O.S.A. We also honored this year's Augustinians celebrating jubilees of vows: the Most Rev. John C. McNabb, O.S.A. (not present); Fr. Jerry Knies, O.S.A. (not present); Fr. Richard McGrath, O.S.A., Ph.D.; Fr. John Ohner, O.S.A.; and Brother Jerome Sysko, O.S.A.

Why do the Augustinians remember the life of a simple woman who lived over 550 years ago? She could hardly read or write. She didn’t give any great sermons. She didn’t write any great books. But we remember this Saint of the Impossible because she teaches us how to love Jesus. Jesus and the Eucharist sustained St. Rita of Cascia, and we hope that Jesus and the Eucharist sustain you.

 In August, 2014, Brothers Nick Mullarkey, Colin Nardone, and Joe Siegel all professed their first vows as Augustinians. Their professions were held at the chapel of Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and St. Rita Shrine Chapel in Chicago. Homily excerpts from the Very Rev. The Very Rev. Bernard C. Scianna, O.S.A., Ph.D., announces the goal for the Augustinians' Continuing Our Journey of Faith capital campaign. The campaign seeks to raise funds for the Fr. Ray Ryan Trust for vocations and the Journey of a Lifetime Trust for the retired and infirm Augustinians.

On May 16, the Feast of Augustinian Saints Alypius and Possidius, Fr. Rich Young, O.S.A., D.Min., professed his solemn vows in the Augustinian Order. The profession also took place during the 107th annual novena to St. Rita of Cascia, at the St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel in Chicago. Watch this short video recapping his solemn profession!

On April 25, 2014, the Augustinian Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel honored the Rev. David L. Brecht, O.S.A., Ph.D., as one of three Augustinian Gala Honorees.  In this video, Father Brecht recalls how he has served on all continents except for Antarctica during his Augustinian ministry.  The video also includes congratulatory remarks by the other two Augustinian Gala honorees Fathers Bill Sullivan, O.S.A. and Jack Gavin, O.S.A.

On April 25, 2014, the Augustinian Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel honored the late Father Jack Gavin, O.S.A., as one of three Augustinian Gala Honorees. In this video, Father Brecht reminisces on his ministry over the decades and recounts his current experience as the Associate Pastor of St. Jude Parish in New Lenox, Illinois. The video also includes congratulatory remarks by the other two Augustinian Gala honorees Fathers David L. Brecht, O.S.A. and Jack Gavin, O.S.A.

In 2000, Fr. David L. Brecht, O.S.A., an honoree of the 2014 Augustinian Gala, published a short documentary detailing an archaeological story of St. Augustine in North Africa.  St. Augustine was the bishop of Hippo in present-day Algeria.  Please view and share the video!

On September 4, 2013, Augustinians from around the world gathered to elect their new Prior General to lead the worldwide Augustinian Order for the following six years.  The Most Reverend Alejandro Moral Antón, O.S.A. is an Augustinian priest from Spain who will lead the Order until the Augustinians' next General Chapter in 2019.  Please watch the video above to learn more about Fr.
