This past January, Patrick completed nearly seven years of working with the Augustinians and has taken a new position as the Director of Development for the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation.  

In his trip to Peru, Prior Provincial Fr. Bernie Scianna, O.S.A attended the profession of vows from 17 men. Among these, 3 were from the Midwest Augustinian's vicariate  of Chulucanas. This is an extraordinary testament to the strength of the Midwest Augustinians mission in Peru

It is our great honor to announce that the Augustinians began the new year by welcoming two of our friars into the diaconate. On January 7, 2017, the Feast of the Holy Epiphany, the Most Reverend Daniel Turley ordained Deacon Stephen Isley, O.S.A., and Deacon Aldo Potencia, O.S.A. 

In his message for the 50th World Day of Peace, Pope Francis pleads for a rise in strategic non-violence within the global community. This is a non-violence that begins within one’s heart, is nurtured at the level of the family, and blossoms within the larger political order.

Saint Rita of Cascia Parish in Chicago, served by the Augustinians since 1905, is hosting a Youth Event for the Novena of Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena!

Human Rights Day, December 10, 2016, reminds Augustinian friars that they are called to take a stand to defend and promote the basic human rights of all persons.  Augustinians invite and encourage all who identify with Augustinian spirituality and traditions to do likewise.  Human Rights Day 2016 marks the 68th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration was adopted December 10, 1948.

“Sorry, son.  You can’t be a priest.  We don’t have enough money to send you to the seminary.”  Father John Merkelis, O.S.A., recently recounted, “My brother Mark wanted to be a priest.  There wasn’t enough money.  My brother Ernie wanted to be a priest.  There wasn’t enough money.  By the time I came around, my mom and dad got the message and said, ‘We better put some time into this.’”

The Augustinians are proud to release our annual report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016.  The online report includes donor scrolls, stewardship updates, and a financial summary.  The Augustinians publish the annual report in effort to be good stewards of the gifts our donors contribute.
