Rev. Ronald E. Scheible, O.S.A. (1931 - 2020)

Ronald Earl Scheible was born January 7, 1931 in Reading, Pennsylvania to George E. and Miriam A. Scheible. He was Baptized on January 25, 1931 at St. Paul Church, Reading. He received the Sacrament of Confirmation on November 24, 1940 at St. Gertrude Church, Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

After graduating from St. Gertrude Parochial School, Lebanon, in 1944, Ronald enrolled in the Augustinian Minor Seminary at St. Monica Seminary, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where he completed three years of high school. He did his Senior Year at Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, New York, earning his diploma in 1948.

Ronald entered the Augustinian Novitiate on September 9, 1948. He professed temporary vows on September 10, 1949 and solemn (permanent) vows on September 10, 1952. He was ordained a Priest on February 9, 1957.

Following profession of vows, he studied at Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania, earning a B.A. degree in Philosophy in 1953. He did his theological studies at Augustinian College, Washington, D.C., from 1953 to 1957. He did additional studies at Villanova University (1953-1957), DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois (1962-63) and Durham College, Indiana (1966).

After ordination in 1957, Father Scheible was assigned to St. Augustine Minor Seminary, Holland, Michigan, as a teacher. He taught for one year (1962-1963) at Tolentine College, then returned to St. Augustine Seminary for five additional years.

Father Scheible then ministered as Parochial Vicar in several parishes. They were St. Matthew, Flint, Michigan (1968-1978), St. Anthony, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1978-1982), Holy Rosary Parish, Kenosha, Wisconsin (1982-1983), St. Clare of Montefalco, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan (1984-1988), Immaculate Conception/St. Henry, St. Louis, Missouri (1988-1992), St. Augustine, Troy, New York (1992-1993), and St. Gregory, Cambridge, Ontario (1993-1999).

In 1999, Father Scheible was named Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Abbott, Texas and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Penelope, Texas. He became Pastor of St. Peter Parish, Lindsay, Texas, in 2002, serving there until 2008.

Father Scheible became semi-retired in 2008, and was assigned to St. Monica Monastery, Chicago. When St. Monica closed in 2010, he moved to the Augustinian community at St. Matthew Parish, Flint, Michigan. He provided sacramental ministry at various locations when the need arises.

In 2017, Father Scheible was assigned to Bl. Stephen Bellesini Friary, Crown Point, Indiana, where his health care needs could be better met.

On December 10, 2020, Father Scheible entered eternal life.
