The Augustinians across the United States and Canada are happy to unveil the new vocations poster for 2013-2014 to be distributed at Augustinian schools, parishes, and vocations events. The poster shows the 35 men in formation as well as their five recently ordained priests.
The Augustinians have vocations offices in Chicago, IL, Villanova, PA, and San Diego, CA. Leading a call for men discerning a religious life, Fathers Thomas McCarthy, O.S.A., Thomas Whelan, O.S.A., and Jorge Cleto, O.S.A. have continuously grown the number of Augustinian vocations over the past few years.
Two years ago, Fr. Tom McCarthy was appointed to serve as the full-time Director of Vocations for the Augustinians in the Midwest, East coast, and Canada. He shares his efforts with Fr. Jorge Cleto, who was appointed the Director of Hispanic Vocations for those same areas. Fr. Tom Whelan is the Director of Vocations for the West coast. Within these past two years in the Midwest alone, the Augustinians have had their first priesthood ordinations of 15 years, their largest classes of novices in 25 years, and four men profess their first vows. Fr. Tom McCarthy, Director of Vocations, says, “I love being a friar and what better thing to do than to share what you love with someone else, especially a prospective member.”
The Augustinian Vocations Office also renovated its website, www.augustinianvocations.org, earlier this year. The Augustinian Vocations can also be found on Twitter and Facebook, as well as in the National Catholic Religious Vocation Discernment Guide, Vision Vocation.
