Fr. Dueweke Appointed to United Nations, Augustinians International

You may not know it, but the Augustinians are a part of the United Nations.  Our UN arm, Augustinians International, is a voice for human rights and social justice.

Father Bob Dueweke, O.S.A., was recently appointed by the Augustinian Prior General (worldwide leader of Augustinians) as the new Representative for Augustinians International.  Beginning May 1, 2016, he will live in the Augustinian Community of St. Nicholas of Tolentine in the Bronx.

Father Emeka Obiezu, O.S.A., currently serves as the Augustinians' delegate to the United Nations until May, 2016.  In April 2016, Father Obiezu invited Father Tony Pizzo, O.S.A., to give a presentation on what St. Rita Parish - Chicago is doing regarding immigration issues.  This report will be made available soon on the Augustinians International website.  St. Rita Parish has been at the forefront of immigration issues with the Catholic Church for years.  In 2015, they were recognized by the Archdiocese of Chicago for their efforts.
