Austin Alumni Association Golf Outing Celebrates Tradition
The Austin Alumni Association hosted its 26th Annual Golf Outing on the day after Father's Day, welcoming 127 alumni for a day of fellowship, golf and celebration. Despite an overnight rainstorm, participants enjoyed beautiful weather as they gathered for lunch, golf, dinner and awards.
This year's outing celebrated several milestone reunions, including the 70th anniversary of Austin's first graduating Class of 1956, the 60th anniversary of the Class of 1966 and the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1976. Although Austin Catholic Prep Detroit graduated just 22 classes before the school's closure, its alumni continue to share a strong sense of community and camaraderie throughout metropolitan Detroit.
Since the outing's inception, the Austin Alumni Association has contributed more than $125,000 to the Augustinian Missions in Peru in memory of Fr. Edward Chapman , O.S.A. and to the scholarship fund at Austin Catholic High School in Chesterfield.
The association's next event will be its annual Memorial Mass honoring deceased students and faculty of Austin Catholic Prep Detroit at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Clare of Montefalco Church. A reception with light refreshments will follow in the Vineyard Room.
