Brother Bernie Cissell, O.S.A., an Augustinian novice, was awarded a grant from the Mater Ecclesiae Fund for Vocations to assist his religious formation and ongoing education.  In his article, he discusses the importance of stewardship in relationship to the Augustinian vow of poverty.

On June 8, 2013, Bishop Dan Turley, O.S.A. ordained Robert Basler, O.S.A. and Homero Sánchez, O.S.A. to the priesthood at St. Rita Parish in Chicago. These ordinations were the first in 15 years for the Augustinian of the Midwest Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel.

Today, June 12, 2013, we celebrate the Feast of St. John of Sahagun.  St. John is the Augustinian Patron Saint of our Augustinian Vicariate in Peru.  Read on about his life and his legacy in our Directory of Augustinian Saints and Blesseds.

Augustinians of the Midwest are encouraged to mark the United Nations' World Environment Day, June 5, 2013, in their communities and ministries. The Augustinians invite and encourage all who identify with Augustinian spirituality and traditions to do likewise.

Last month, Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, offered an opening prayer to the 460 gathered to celebrate the Augustinian Inaugural Gala.  He briefly discussed his role in electing Pope Francis, Augustinian spirituality and ministry, and the Church in Latin America.  Check out this video to see an excerpt from this Invocation.
